Who are we?
Kinder Sight Victoria is a program led by two optometrists dedicated to conducting eye tests at kindergartens and early learning centers. Our mission is to identify and address vision-related issues in children before they start school. By tackling these concerns early, we aim to support children in achieving their full potential as they transition into the classroom.

We conduct comprehensive eye examinations for all children. As part of the routine vision assessments, we test:
- Visual Acuity – how well your child sees
- Binocularity – how well both eyes work together
- Eye Turns (Strabismus) – checking for misalignment
- Colour Vision – assessing colour perception
- Eye Coordination – evaluating how the eyes work t

- Refractive Error – looking for signs of myopia (short-sightedness), hyperopia (long-sightedness), and astigmatism
- Anterior Eye Health – examining the front structures of the eye
- Posterior Eye Health – examining the back structures of the eye
Our primary focus in children of this age is detecting the risk of amblyopia (lazy eye), a condition that can lead to permanent visual impairment if left untreated.

Children with a valid Medicare card are eligible for a bulk-billed eye examination. With parental consent, the assessment is conducted at the kindergarten or early learning center, meaning no child is left out.

We collaborate closely with educators and parents, prioritising clear communication. After the assessment, we send a detailed report with findings and recommended strategies to the child's parent or guardian.

If necessary, prescriptions for glasses, eye drops, or other treatments are provided for purchase at local optical stores or pharmacies. If further evaluation is needed, we refer your child to an optometrist or ophthalmologist.
We also coordinate with educators to implement management strategies before school begins. This teamwork ensures the best support for your child's school readiness.
