Hamdi earned both his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from the University of Melbourne, along with an honours degree for his research on type 2 diabetes, which was published in a peer-reviewed journal.
He has gained extensive experience practicing optometry across both regional and metropolitan Australia, including conducting outreach work in remote Indigenous communities. Additionally, Hamdi completed a residency in Connecticut, USA, where he trained under some of the region's leading eye specialists. Hamdi has a particular interest in paediatric optometry, specialising in myopia management and anterior eye disease.
Outside of work, Hamdi enjoys soccer, swimming, traveling, and spending quality time with his family. Prior to pursuing optometry, he taught swimming to children, including those with disabilities.
Mark completed his Bachelor of Science at Monash University and his Doctor of Optometry at the University of Melbourne.
He has practiced optometry in Western Australia, regional Victoria, and internationally at the Cherokee Nation Outpatient Health Centre in Oklahoma, where he conducted laser therapies for glaucoma. Mark specialises in paediatric optometry, contact lenses, and the management of keratoconus using specialty lenses or glasses. He is a member of Optometry Australia and the Cornea & Contact Lens Society of Australia (CCLSA).
Outside of work, Mark enjoys soccer, surfing, cooking, traveling, and visiting family in Argentina.
